We treat rotator cuff syndrome and injury, which is an overuse impingement syndrome or tear that can occur from repetitive overhead sports activities (tennis, swimming, volleyball, or throwing sports), however this syndrome can also result from ordinary overuse or trauma. Treatment depends on severity of weakness and pain and functional limitations. The goal is to reduce inflammation and return to pain-free range of motion. Such treatment options may include rest, strengthening programs, anti-inflammatory medications, or injections. Various procedures are available as indicated on our Treatments page. The condition can be diagnosed clinically but may also require MRI studies. Severe cases may require us to refer you to an excellent orthopedic shoulder specialist to discuss surgical options.
